What Is Sneakers for Service?

Sneakers for Service is a statewide Camp Alliance initiative in partnership with the Arkansas National Guard Enlisted Association, created to ensure Service Members have access to quality athletic shoes and socks— so financial strain never becomes a barrier to readiness, health, or training performance.

The program collects gently used shoes, recycles them ethically, and uses the proceeds to purchase brand-new wholesale sneakers for eligible Service Members.
The pilot is launching with the 142d Field Artillery Brigade and is designed for statewide expansion.

 

Our model is simple:
Community sneaker donations → Ethical recycling → Funds used to buy new sneakers → Direct support for Guard Members.

Why This Program Matters

​

For some Soldiers, a good pair of training shoes is a luxury. Service Members give their all. The least we can give is support that matters.

 

Proper athletic footwear is essential for:

• Injury prevention

• Performance in training and PT tests

• Long-term joint and foot health

• Confidence and comfort

• Fair access to basic readiness tools

 

Many National Guard members balance service, civilian careers, school, and family responsibilities and need a little extra support within their career and we stand ready to support those who do.

 

How the Program Works

  Step 1: Community Donations

Shoe donation boxes are placed, and/or shoe drive events are hosted at partner locations across the state…. Anyone can donate gently used athletic shoes.

  Step 2: Shoes Are Recycled

Donated shoes are processed and redistributed to third-world countries or local shelters, extending their life and avoiding landfill waste.

  Step 3: Funds Become Brand-New Sneakers

Camp Alliance uses the recycling funds to purchase new, high-quality wholesale sneakers (like Nike, Adidas, ASICS, etc.).

  Step 4: Service Members Receive SupportNational Guard Members identified in need receive new sneakers and socks at no cost — supporting training, PT tests, and overall wellness.
