[ FOCUS FORWARD ]

(Young Driver Safety Leadership Initiative)

Empowering Service-Connected Youth to Lead from the Front

Arkansas’s military, veteran, and first responder youth understand duty and leadership better than anyone. Through Act 501 (Purple Star Schools), Focus Forward activates these service-connected students to lead their peers in ending preventable traffic fatalities across our state.

By targeting the four critical areas of youth highway safety—Distracted Driving, GDL Compliance, Seatbelt Safety, and Experiential Engagement (including hands-on B.R.A.K.E.S. and ROADeo training)—our Student Navigators turn awareness into measurable prevention action before tragedy strikes.

(VETERAN PEER SUPPORT PILOT MODEL)

"People with wounds listen to people with scars." This upcoming national pilot model leverages the lived combat, transition, and recovery experiences of veterans to pull their peers out of addiction, homelessness, and crisis pipelines.

Highlighting the strategy of turning past struggles into future purpose. It focuses on long-term workforce reintegration, behavioral health mentorship, and sustained community recovery.
